Meet Our Experts
Pete Romm has been with M. Beem Jewelers since 2007. He is trained by the Gemological Institute of America, where he earned Graduate Diamond Grading and Accredited Jewelry Professional diplomas. He is furthering his training to become a Graduate Gemologist and Appraiser. Pete truly enjoys finding the perfect piece of jewelry for every customer and has an eye for exquisite gems. Pete grew up in the Northern Virginia area, graduated from Bishop O'Connell High School, and has a degree in history from St. Mary's College of Maryland. He is now engaged and will be married in June 2012.
Ruben Cruz began his career with Kay Jewelers in sunny Florida. Over the past 16 years, he has managed stores in Maryland, Texas and Virginia for one of the largest jewelry conglomerates in the nation. He has also been a sales trainer and recruiter at the corporate level.Ruben is now enjoying the flexibility that M. Beem Jewelers offers to help him provide real one-on-one attention to his clients. He is very creative and resourceful and is always looking to design the perfect item for each of his customers.Ruben has a great eye for design and has been the source of inspiration for many of the custom items in the cases. His energy, enthusiasm, attention to detail and creativity endear him to our customers. They truly enjoy working with him, and many seem to adopt him as their permanent personal jeweler from the moment of their first interactions.After growing up in Puerto Rico, Ruben came to Florida as a college student attending the University of Florida. There, he played competitive beach volleyball while attending school and later as he worked at Kay Jewelers. Though he sometimes still misses the beaches that Northern Virginia lacks, he enjoys being back in the DC area with his many friends and colleagues.
Mike and Maria Beem
Owner- Mike has been in the jewelry business for over 25 years. He began as a part-time salesperson for a national jewelry chain the summer after graduating from high school, and he ended up paying his way through college by working there nights and weekends. After he graduated from George Mason University, Mike managed jewelry stores at the corporate level in Virginia, Maryland and California, winning several national sales and service awards. He later worked and managed a store in Northern Virginia for a local family jewelry chain. He opened his own store, M. Beem Jewelers, in 2003.Mike has a B.S. in public administration and degrees from the Gemological Institute of America. M. Beem Jewelers is the culmination of many years of training and professional experience. Mike is especially proud of the store's comfortable and informative atmosphere, which enables customers to shop with confidence and trust. Mike truly enjoys having a business that allows him to share life's special occasions with his clients and their loved ones.When he is not at the store, he follows the GMU men's basketball team and gets in a round of golf every now and then. He and his wife, Maria, both grew up in the area, support several local charities and enjoy being a part of the local community with their three children.

Certified experts perform all services, most in-house and often while you wait.
Appraisals Appraisals- We offer a full on-site appraisal service by a G.I.A. Graduate Gemologist with over 20 years experience. We accept appointments for while-you-wait service or items may be dropped off and picked up later. Appraisal fees are typically $135 for the first item and an average of $40 for each additional item. Items purchased at M. Beem Jewelers include a free appraisal. Appraisals are done on Thursdays. Please call for an appointment.
Jewelry Repair Jewelry Repairs- We perform expert jewelry repair on-site including ring sizing, stone re-setting, and complete refurbishing of your cherished pieces. We work on platinum and gold jewelry and select silver items. Most repairs are done within one week and often we can provide same-day service. Our master goldsmiths have many years of experience and pride themselves on making each repair perfect.
Watch Repair Watch Repair- We offer complete watch repair services. Battery replacement, pressure testing, and adding/removing links can often be performed while you wait. More complex repairs such as overhauls and replacing damaged parts usually need to be dropped off for an estimate.
Wish List Gift Registration Wish List- Want to make sure your significant other gets you the perfect gift for that special occasion coming up? You can come by, browse our selection and fill out a wish list with all your favorites. We keep this list on file for when that special someone stops by. We can even email photos of your desired items.
Pearl Re-stringing Re-stringing- All pearl and bead stringing is done on-site. It can be done with or without knots. This service typically costs between $2-4 per inch and most jobs are completed within a week.
Engraving Engraving- We perform engraving on-site. We can engrave the inside of rings as well as most flat surfaces. The average price is $25-50 for each item. Most engraving services can be completed within one week.
Estate Estate Jewelry- Not quite sure what to do with your estate jewelry? We can help. Whether you are looking to sell, re-design, refurbish, or anything else we will be happy to give you a free consultation and find the best option for you.
Financing Payment- Financing is available through G.E. Money, including interest-free plans. Please contact us for more details. All major credit cards, cash, and checks are also accepted.
Gold We Buy Gold- We pay very competitive prices for scrap gold. We also offer trade-in and re-design services for all your scrap gold.
